What do you get when investment bankers get excited about the iPad 2? An incredibly thorough look at how the base of iPad users is expanding tremendously. Piper Jaffray spent the weekend surveying retail lines to arrive at some pretty impressive comparisons between this and last year’s first-weekend iPad sales results. Perhaps most interesting was ratio of new iPad owners to old:
70% of iPad 2 buyers were new to the iPad, compared with 23% of iPhone 4 buyers who were new to the iPhone at launch.
